2012 NBA Offseason Preview: Portland Trailblazers

Players Returning
PF LaMarcus Aldridge
SG Wesley Matthews

Key Free Agents
PG Raymond Felton
SF Nicolas Batum (RFA)
PF JJ Hickson (RFA)

2012 Draft Picks
#6, #11, #40, #41

Team Needs
PG, SF, C

The biggest need for Portland will come at the PG position, since they have been very open on how disappointed they were last season with it. Their need at SF should be filled by matching any reasonable offer Nicolas Batum will agree to. Therefore, in the draft, they should be looking to take a PG and big man at the #6 and #11 spots. Even though PG is their biggest concern, it seems like they can wait for the #11 pick and still get either Kendall Marshall or Damian Lillard from Weber State. That leaves them taking a big man at #6, which will be Andre Drummond if he's still there or Jared Sullinger if he's not. They should still have some cap room left over, but expect them to try to fill out the roster with some solid backups and look to improve their rookies throughout the season on the way to a run at the playoffs.
