The Popularity of MLS (more to come)

Hello all, we'eve been on a slight break here at FTNB, but now we want to come back with a bang. What better way to do that than to spark up a hot topic for American soccer fans. The popularity of the MLS and soccer in America. After all, soccer is the WORLDS sport, but many feel it still has plenty of room to grow here in the states. Be on the lookout for a podcast on our poadbean.com page concerning this topic soon. We've also made a blogtalkradio page and plan to use that aswell. Some of the tpics that will be covered...

  • Just how popular is soccer/MLS in America?
  •  What changes can be made to increase the popularity of soccer in America?
  • What changes if any can be made to the MLS to make it better?
  • Will soccer ever be as popular here as baseball, basketball, football etc. is?
In the meantime, feel free to drop us a comment, tweet, or e-mail regarding the subject. We'd love to hear some opinions on such a thought provoking topic. Expect the podcast to be up sometime over the weekend!

2012 NBA Draft Team Grades - Atlantic Division

Boston Celtics: Jared Sullinger  Fab Melo  Kris Joseph
Boston took what they hope to be their frontcourt of the future with picks 21 and 22 in the 2012 draft. Sullinger was pegged by many to be a lottery pick, before injury concerns derailed his draft stock. Melo is a legit rebounder and shot blocker, if given time he can turn into a good NBA center. Joseph is a project pick, it's yet to be seen if he can become a contributor or not. Solid draft by Boston here. GRADE: B+

Brooklyn Nets: Tyshawn Taylor  Tornike Shengelia  Ilkan Karaman
It's quite clear what Brooklyn's intentions are here. Build to win now, and that sentiment was shared to a nation audience during the 2012 draft. Taylor is a nice pickup who may find a spot in the rotation with some development. He was followed by two international players that are question marks. GRADE: D

2012 NBA Draft Team Grades - Central Division

Chicago Bulls: Marquis Teague
The Chicago Bulls may have arguably gotten one of the steals of the draft in Marquis Teague, another super freshman from Kentucky. Teague was ranked high on many draft big boards, but wasn't looked as highly upon as other guards like Damien Lillard and Kendall Marshall. He is quick, has an improving jumpshot, and is battle tested after his year at UK. Most of all, Chicago filled a need as Derrick Rose will be injured for a good portion of next season.   GRADE: A

Cleveland Cavaliers: Dion Waiters Tyler Zeller
You have to give the Cavaliers front office some credit. They have don everything possible in order to try and appease the fans quickly after LeBron's "decision." After a good draft last year adding Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, the Cavs have another solid class in 2012. Dion Waiters will be a great fit alongside Irving in the backcourt. He has an NBA body and skill set.  His ability to drive to the basket is arguably the best in the draft, and the fans will love his "pure" scoring ability. Tyler Zeller is another good pick. He doesn't have that "wow" factor, but he can be a productive player, and will be ready right away. GRADE: A-
